Art: UOI 6 Form
Form is the space an artwork occupies, of the illusion that it takes up space. The most common types of art that use form are statues. To start our unit we made 3D pyrmaids and decorated them using Romero Britto as inspiration. On each side we drew a symbol to describe ourselves. Can you guess whose is whose?

Mondrian Animals We studied the pictures of Piet Mondrian. He used primary colours to represent New York from a bird's eye view. We made pictures in the Mondrian style of our favourite animals. You can see our pictures on your individual pages |

We learnt about Diwali in inquiry. As part of this celebration, Hindu's might make Rangoli infront of their houses to bring good luck and welcome the gods. First we planned our Rangoli on paper. We made sure that they were symmetrical and has repeating patterns. Then we went outside and drew our Rangoli on a tile in front of the year 2 building. We used white and different coloured chalks. We took photos of our Rangoli because they are temporary artworks. To see our finished artworks

We learnt about Mexico and the celebration of Los Posadas. At this festival, people make star shaped Pinatas to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We made our own pinatas using Papier Mache. We also learnt how to dance the Mexican hat dance after listening to some Mexican style music.

Using many geometric shapes, we made a collage of a robot. Then we used our fancy writing to give it a robot name.

"We speak for the trees"
We use the Lorax by Dr Seuss as inspiration for our artworks. In the style of Hundertwasser, we made line pattern truffalo trees using warm and cool colours. To see the final results, look at our individual pages |

Art: UOI 1 Line
For our first unit for art, we are looking at we can use lines to create artworks. We can use thick, thin, rough, curly, straight and more! We listened to some music and then drew the line that we thought best expressed that song. Then we learnt about how Kandinsky used lines to make his artworks. We made our own version of his Composition 8.
